Dillard's is an American upscale department store chain and one of the country's largest fashion retailer, operating in around 30 states in the United States. Its offer includes a large selection of stylish clothing, footwear, underwear, accessories and jewelry for women and men, along with kids apparel. Dillard's also carries various lines of home accessories and furniture. The company owns more than 300 stores mostly located in Florida and Texas.
William T. Dillard founded his company and opened his first department store in 1938, in Nashville, Arkansas. Ten years later, he bought Wooten's in Texarkana and, in 1956, he purchased the Mayer & Schmidt store in Tyler, Texas. In 1963, the acquisition of the Joseph Pfeifer and the Gus Blass stores in Little Rock gave Dillard the opportunity to move the company's headquarters there. Stores and chain stores acquisitions continued all through the following decades until Dillard's started to open its own new locations, beginning with a department store in Chandler, Arizona. Dillard's defines its vision of the fashion retailing in its baseline: The Style Of Your Life.
