Coldwater Creek is an American clothing label for women. It offers different collections of apparel, some of which are dedicated to petites and plus-size women. Coldwater Creek also designs shoes, jewelry, accessories and a selection of home items. The label is mainly distributed online and through its catalog, but 8 stores have been opened in the country for the past 2 years.
In 1984, former Macy's Copy Director Ann Pence and her husband Dennis moved from Manhattan to Sandpoint, in northern Idaho. They created and launched Northcountry, a mail-order catalog specializing in women's apparel. Instant success allowed Ann and Dennis to hire staff members the very next year and soon, millions of customers were receiving their catalog. Second catalog Spirit of the West was launched in 1993, followed by Ecosong in 1994, then Milepost Four in 1996. By the end of 1999, the company's internet business had developed and the store network grew from 41 boutiques in 2002 to 306 by the end of 2007. In 2014, Coldwater Creek filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by investment management company Sycamore Partners. The label was relaunched that same year as a catalog and online-only retailer. Coldwater Creek started to rebuilt a store network in 2018. As of today, the company has opened 8 stores in the United States.
